When I read that more than 10000 people are attending musical performances each evening in Vienna I decided spontaneously to do so as well and to buy a ticket for the famous Vienna State Opera. Who thinks that this must be expensive is completely wrong because more than 500 standing room tickets are sold shortly before the performance for 3 to 4 Euro each! I got one and enjoyed the modern opera Orest in historic ambience.

Even though I had visited Vienna on various occasions in the past I was happy to visit it again and found more than enough interesting things that I had not done before: I saw jewels, crowns and relics in the Imperial Treasury, a lot of art at the Belvedere Palace and even more art and other historical objects at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. And I heard the famous Vienna Boy Choir in the church of the Hofburg palace on Sunday morning. Of course I also walked around a lot and enjoyed the busy streets and beautiful architecture. The central location of my hostel close to the Naschmarkt was perfect for that.
And last but not least: I rode a paternoster, a historical elevator that moves without stopping, in Vienna’s city hall. Something that I had wanted to do for a long time!

Nice pictures and blog Inga. Keep them coming.
